(ANSA) – ARZACHENA, APR 12 – Eighty-eight kilometers of coastline in the municipal area of Arzachena to be preserved and protected from coastal erosion: the administration led by Roberto Ragnedda wants to regulate access to the smallest and most fragile beaches. It starts this year with a first test at Le Piscine, on the Cannigione coast, where entry will be allowed to a limited and sustainable number of people, decided on the basis of a regulation that will be presented to the city council. Tour operators and citizens will be informed of the project on May 8th, when a meeting open to all will be held at 5pm in the Nexus Space in Arzachena. “A destination like ours, with around 14 thousand permanent residents, in the month of August can count over 140 thousand people a day in transit through the territory, numbers which heavily impact the consumption of natural resources, our most important heritage, explained the Councilor for Tourism, Claudia Giagoni. A digital application will allow you to book entry to the beach for the whole day, or for half the day, up to 72 hours in advance. A portion of the seats will be allocated to residents, who will have free access to the beach as well as children under 12. Controlled access will be active from 15 July to 31 August 2024 and will help understand the flow trend, monitor any management critical issues and fine-tune the system for 2025. “Yes This is the first test in the Municipality of Arzachena. We will present the report on the studies carried out at a public meeting. The regulation will establish the parameters for access to Le Piscine beach, within the limits of what has already been defined in the Coastal Use Plan, and the booking methods”, specified Alessandro Malu, Councilor for Urban Planning and State Property.
