Mexico City. Nicolás Sánchez, Monterrey’s technical assistant, confirmed that there was an altercation with the international star Lionel Messi, a member of Inter Miami, by publishing a video on his social networks in which he accepted as true an audio that was leaked a day before and where he narrated the facts.
“I am present with this video to talk about the audio that went viral, I could have chosen to hide behind a text or have the club act for me, but I preferred to record myself, use this medium to show my face and make it clear that the words I I’m going to say they come out of my mouth and to take charge.
“I made the audio, where I explain in detail what happened after the match in the mixed zone. It is an audio that I sent to my inner circle, my closest circle, but far from getting angry with them, it is my mistake, it had not happened to me ever, and it will serve as a learning experience for me,” said Sánchez.
“I understand that when this audio is made public, many people may feel offended. I understand that the coach of Inter Miami, Gerardo Martino, is a person whom I do not know and to whom I was referring in a disrespectful way, so I offer my apologies. “But I hope you can understand me, I am as Argentine as all of them and I will always defend my club,” he added.
Messi put his fist in my face
Sánchez’s message comes after the media revealed an audio in which the assistant claimed that Lionel Messi had threatened to hit him when they were heading to the locker room after the game.
“Messi wanted to fight me, I don’t think he would have wanted to hit me because he would have hit me, he had me an centimeter away, he put his fist on the side of my face, I think he was looking for my reaction more than hitting me,” he said. I heard Sánchez say in the audio.
“In a good mood I approach to ask Messi for a photo, the security guy in a good mood stops me. I think Messi was overheated, the referees were there and of course when they came in Messi confronted him and told him everything, to the four referees and everything to him. And on one side of him was ‘Tata’ Martino; “We’re both very out of place, something that even we don’t do, they throw us to hell…” he said.
“The atmosphere was heavy, then ‘Tata’ comes in, I don’t remember the phrase well, as if to say well, there are 90 minutes left, we are still alive. “I don’t know something,” he said. I was calm, I never got angry, there were people from Concacaf there, I looked at him and said: ‘If we do this, they will throw us all out.’ ‘Tata’ Martino started saying everything and Messi appeared, I thought he had left. He appeared and wanted to keep me raw, he wanted to eat me raw.”
Monterrey presents disagreement
The Rayados board also made it official on Friday night that it presented a complaint to Concacaf for “the unfortunate events” that occurred on Wednesday at the end of the match where they beat the Miami club in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Concachampions.
