Prior to his debut in the Olympic Games, José Luis Doctor closed his participation in 1:21:11. Four steps behind Doctor Morales, Noel Alí Chama finished (1:22:32). Both already have their minimum Olympic qualification mark.

In Costa Rica, on the other hand, Leandro Sauri, Alely Hernández and Gibran Armenta surpassed the group stage in the Pan American Fencing Pre-Olympic that will distribute six Olympic places.
