He was able to celebrate them with a magical night in Paris, with the victory over PSG (2-3). Furthermore, and as the icing on the cake, he scored the goal that gave Barça the victory. An action that, incidentally, was the second fastest by a Barcelona substitute in a Champions League tie. Since he entered the field it took him 1 minute and 22 seconds to score.
The record until now is held by Bojan Krkic, against Stuttgart, who needed only 50 seconds to score a goal that marked the final 4-0 in that match.
However, as a curiosity, the goal against PSG in the Parc des Princes does make the Scandinavian player the only one in Barça history to score in the Champions League on his birthday. Previously, and counting other clubs, Juan Esnáider and Yéremy Pino had done it.
Third Dane in the Champions League
With the goal against PSG, Christensen adds his second goal in Europe’s top competition, his first with Barça. Previously, he had already done it with Chelsea against Malmö.
Currently Braithwaite is the Dane who has scored the most goals for Barça in the Champions League (3) since the 92/93 season, when the name changed. Christensen is second, tied with Laudrup (1). However, the former player had scored 3 more when the competition was still the European Cup.
