The Tripolye thermal power plant in the Kyiv region was completely destroyed as a result of a Russian strike on the night of April 11, Andrei Gota, head of the Supervisory Board of Centrenergo, told the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
According to him, as a result of the hits, a strong fire occurred in the turbine shop. The company continues to work on its localization. “All the workers who were on shift during the shelling are alive,” Gota added.
Previously, the mayor of the city of Ukrainka, located near the station, Alexander Turenko called local residents “tightly close the windows in their homes so as not to breathe in harmful combustion products,” as well as charge all devices and stock up on water. The mayor later edited his post on Facebook, removing the item about windows from it.
Trypilska Thermal Power Plant is the most powerful power plant in the Kyiv region. It generates about half of all energy generated by enterprises in the region.
On Thursday night, the Russian military launched a massive attack on energy facilities in five regions of Ukraine: Kharkov, Kyiv, Odessa, Zaporozhye and Lvov.
