With a head-on attack against the ND and with strong harsh criticism of SYRIZA, Nikos Androulakis, from the platform of the Central Political Committee of the PASOK, officially started the pre-election campaign for the European elections, in the presence of most of the candidates participating in the ballot.
“June 9 will mark the end date of the ND government” said Mr. Androulakis in response to the well-known slogans of the youth: “The people do not forget what the Right means” and “PASOK is here, united, strong”.
He argued that PASOK has an obligation to sign the message that the cycle of Mr. Mitsotakis is closing. “A strong PASOK means that the arrogance of Mr. Mitsotakis has an expiration date”, emphasized the president of PASOK – KINAL. It is, he emphasized, applauding for a patriotic and ideological battle, declaring that “on the evening of July 9, PASOK will be with the winners, in second place for a strong, reliable opposition so that the people have an alternative governance proposal in the next national elections.”
“Mitsotakis prefers to be confronted with conspiracy theories and the lifestyle of his ministerial candidate”
Interrupted often by continuous applause, Nikos Androulakis mentioned how “on June 9, we send a message to New Democracy by choosing the opposition it wants to avoid by any legitimate or illegitimate means. He prefers to contrast himself with the conspiracy theories and lifestyle of his ministerial candidate. He prefers this chaos so that he can pose the dilemma “Mitsotakis or chaos”.
Mr. Androulakis called, “unifying the Greek people”as he said, “whatever party voted in the national elections, let’s join forces so that our country has a reliable, worthy, progressive opposition. It is the only way to stop the parade of arrogance. The undermining of institutions. And ultimately the underestimation of the daily problems of the Greek people”.
He underlined that the political condemnation of the arrogance of Mr. Mitsotakis is not the only thing at stake in the elections, but there is also another question that must be answered by launching an attack on SYRIZA and its leader: “Who can stand with seriousness, stability, unwavering, without dependencies, unguarded, with strength, honesty, and credibility towards the New Democracy? Who unites, who honors, who continues, who ensures the future, but also the principles and values of the democratic faction. Who can give hope, dignity and respect to the Greek people again? It means that the New Democracy government has an expiration date and the country has a new government option.”
“We will expose the parastate of wiretapping”
As noted by the president of PaSoK “Kyriakos Mitsotakis and New Democracy have chosen who they want as an opponent. After all, he is much more useful to him as president of SYRIZA than as its minister. Every time they are in a difficult position, he declares his presence to make it easier for them and throw the ball into the stands.”
Fill in how “instead of healing the wounds that the SYRIZA – ANEL government opened in the rule of law, they opened new ones. Just as in 2004 they promised to re-establish the state and eventually bankrupted it, so in 2019 they said they would build a rule of law, but in the end they created the parastate of wiretapping.”. At this point, Mr. Androulakis made a sharp and strict reference to the recent decision of the STE.
“However, on Friday, the decision of the Supreme Court not only vindicated me, but is also the first step to uncover the parastate of wiretapping. Now we will see who is afraid of the truth, Mr. Mitsotakis. Tomorrow morning I will go to ADAE, I will meet Mr. Rammos and I will ask for official and legal information. Transparently and not in the background, as they asked me to make me their accomplice.
It would be very good for our democracy if the other victims had done what I have done. On Friday, the slanderers got their answer. Because those who are blackmailed are not those who fight in the foreground but those who hide without taking their responsibilities. It is worrying that New Democracy, with the same ease with which it condemned the SYRIZA government, is becoming a worse version of it”underlined the president of PaSoK.
“The state cannot continue to disappoint its citizens”
He made a reference, among other things, to the tragedy of Tempe where he repeated his critical complaint about the audios of the OSE agents. He recalled that last November the PASOK submitted a proposal for a preliminary investigation committee based on the conclusion of the European Prosecutor’s Office, but “the governing majority rejected it and did not let the judiciary continue its investigation”.
On the occasion of the last femicide in Agios Anargyros, Mr. Androulakis spoke about “generalized feeling of insecurity, where juvenile delinquency has become a daily occurrence and organized crime is flourishing.
Last week, a young woman who had done everything right, spoken out, reported her abuser, gone to the police to protect herself, was murdered right outside the police station she had taken refuge in. The state cannot continue to disappoint its citizens”.
The economic policy of the government was not missing from the criticism of the president of PASOK, where he noted how “The economic miracle they are bragging about is essentially a fabricated reality based on the flood of European Recovery Fund resources. When we have exhausted the resources of the Recovery Fund it will be proven that the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a unique opportunity for the country that went unused. A unique opportunity to change the production model of the country, strengthening the resilience of society and the economy. We are here to prove that there is another path of responsibility and perspective”he claimed.
“Only united can we move forward”
Regarding the nature of the European elections, Mr. Androulakis emphasized how “on June 9 we want a social Europe with strong common tools of solidarity that reduce social and regional inequalities, that strengthen the resilience of the economies and societies of all European states… We want a Europe that strengthens democracy and transparency by ensuring the proper functioning of rule of law but also universal respect for human rights…. We want a Europe that can effectively protect citizens from the consequences of the climate crisis…
We want a Europe that ensures the smooth adaptation of society to the challenges of the green and digital transition … A Europe that respects and guarantees workers’ rights. Only united can we move forward, only united can we win. Taking second place with a strong percentage, the country gets a reliable, responsible, progressive official opposition. We have no intention of consigning Europe to the “Center Right or Far Right” dilemma, and we are not going to let Greece see the political confrontation turn into a cheap soap opera for the children of the domestic elite.
I promise you that on June 9th we will be on the winning side again. And I call on every democrat, every progressive citizen to join forces for a strong homeland. Take the lineup into your own hands”.
