He is the Lucanian poet, Rocco Scotellarohistorical figure of literature and politics of the South, the character after whom the library of the Municipality of will be named Palomonte. 101 years after the birth of Scotellaro, in line with the cultural events of the centenary in memory of the writer and his works throughout Italy, the town of Palomonte will also pay homage to the Lucanian poet with the naming of the municipal library, a symbolic place of culture and historical identity.
The ceremony will take place on Friday 19 April with a moment of remembrance of the poet, starting from 10 am in via A. Massa in the council chamber of the Municipality of Palomonte and then continuing with the cutting of the ribbon and the unveiling of the plaque placed at the entrance of the municipal library, in the presence of the mayor of the town of Salerno, Happy Grimof the vice president of the Province of Salerno, Giovanni Guzzoof the culture councilor of the Municipality of Palomonte, Lara Moscatoof the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Tricarico, Pietro Battagliaof the professor of Italian language and literature, Francesca Troisiby the professor of Italian literature of the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Salerno and historical, Sebastiano Martelliand of the scholar and relative of the poet Scotellaro, the professor Maria Rosaria Toneatto.
The event, presented by the Salerno journalist Mariateresa Contein which, among others, authorities and students of all levels of various schools in the province will participate, will see the illustration to the public of some panels depicting the poet’s works and a portrait with a plaque in memory of Rocco Scotellaro.
