British Foreign Secretary David Cameron commented on the work of Russian propaganda against support for Ukraine in the United States.
According to “European Pravda”, he spoke about this on air on the MSNBC channel, reports Bloomberg.
Asked about the risk of Russian propaganda influencing Republicans who are blocking aid to Ukraine in the House of Representatives, he said: “A lie manages to travel halfway around the world before the truth puts on its pants.”
“Don’t listen to Putin’s lies about Ukraine. This is a free democracy that wants to be an independent sovereign country, that wants to be our ally and our friend, and we must stand with our friends because the world will be watching if we don’t.” – noted the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Cameron also called on the US Congress to view aid to Ukraine as an “investment in American security.”
“90 percent of what you spend will go towards creating jobs here in America, and you can make a decisive contribution to getting Ukraine back on its feet and preventing (Russian leader Vladimir) Putin from winning,” he said. .
Trump commented on the meeting with Cameron, where they discussed assistance to Ukraine
Commenting on his meeting on Monday with future Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, the Foreign Minister described their discussions as “good,” refusing to provide details and calling the meeting “private.”
“Whoever is president (of the United States), no one wants us to be in a situation where Putin wins and Ukraine loses and we have to deal with this situation. We can help right now,” Cameron concluded.
Former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner expressed his convictionthat Russian propaganda has infiltrated the US legislature as members of Congress spread false reports about Russia’s war.
Before this Cameron called on his European colleagues also put pressure on the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Recall that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner expressed confidence that aid to Ukraine will have “overwhelming support” when Congress returns to work on April 9, emphasizing Johnson’s promise to fund Ukraine priority after the holidays.
Johnson announcedthat the aid package for Ukraine will include “some important innovations,” including the possible provision of loan assistance.
Back in the winter, the US Senate passed a compromise bill that combined aid for Ukraine with a number of other national security decisions, including measures to combat illegal migration on the border with Mexico. However, Johnson made it clear that he would not put this project to a vote in the House of Representatives, but they would prepare their own.
