Trespass in “Duma”: Ninova fired a prominent journalist – 2024-04-10 22:54:39

/ world today news/ The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the BSP in resignation, Kornelia Ninova, has fired a prominent journalist from the party newspaper “Duma”. We are talking about Veliana Hristova, known to the entire guild as one of the most informed and knowledgeable editors in the departments “Education” and “Culture”.

Hristova revealed on Wednesday that she became a victim of suicide because of the organization of a signature against the leadership of the Centenary on the occasion of untruths circulated by him at the last meeting of the plenum, present, where Lupa.bg also heard that “Duma” was actually preparing to close.

“It turns out that writing a letter with truths to a party organ is a crime,” the journalist wrote after she received her notice of termination of employment with Duma. The editor-in-chief of the publication is the head of the Union of Writers, and recently his first deputy is Nora Stoichkova.

Due to the dismissal of Veliana Hristova, the guild started a signature petition with the following content:

“We have witnessed yet another political self-assault and encroachment on the right to free speech and opinion. The journalist of the newspaper “Duma” Veliana Hristova – one of the most established names in the media, with a huge contribution to the promotion of Bulgarian science and, in particular, the preservation of Bulgarian archeology , was fired politically after sending a critical letter to the NA of the BSP in her capacity as the union leader of the SBZ in the editorial office.

The letter was written by 30 out of a total of 34 employees of the newspaper and aims to refute statements made by BSP leader Kornelia Ninova to the media.

The self-disgrace with Veliana Hristova is obvious – a person who over the years has not spared criticism either of his own or of others, but has always been guided by the interests of society, is removed. With this petition, we object to the attempt to brush aside, for the sake of political calculations, biographical experience and reputation built up over decades. Over the years, the newspaper “Duma” has remained a critical media precisely thanks to people like Veliana Hristova. She has long deserved an award – not dismissal”. Dozens of journalists have signed it in recent hours.
