Death toll rises to 16 after Taiwan earthquake – 2024-04-10 22:45:39

The death toll from the 7.3 magnitude earthquake on the Chinese island of Taiwan rose to 16, local authorities and the media reported Wednesday, adding that the response to the earthquake went beyond aid emergency to recovery and reconstruction.

Three more bodies were found today, but their identities have not yet been confirmed.
At 07:58 a.m. on April 3, the earthquake shook the sea area near Hualien County. The earthquake also caused 1,155 injuries and three people are still missing.

As of today, the earthquake has caused a total of 80.96 million New Taiwan dollars (about 2.53 million US dollars) in damage to agricultural products as well as private and public facilities, with Hualien District suffering serious losses. , according to statistics from the island’s agricultural authorities.
