Knox defense, she is a victim and must be acquitted of slander

(ANSA) – FLORENCE, APRIL 10 – Amanda Knox is “a victim”. About her “violation of her defense rights” and her “media trial”. One of her defenders, the lawyer Luca Luparia Donati, underlined this before the Assize Court of Appeal which is reviewing the crime of slander. Together with the other lawyer, Carlo Dalla Vedova, they asked for the American’s acquittal. Lawyer Luparia Donati underlined that Knox was declared innocent of the Kercher murder to which she has always proclaimed herself a stranger. The lawyer then asked to do the same for her slander by “giving her justice for an unjust conviction”. The lawyer Dalla Vedova spoke of a “very serious error”. “The right of defense that has been violated – he added – is fundamental. Italy has been condemned by the European Court for psychological torture for a procedural issue”. The lawyer then focused on the figure of Knox who is following the trial from the USA and reiterated to his lawyers that he is unrelated to the slander. “Young wife and mother – she added – she wanted to be here but she remained in the USA to take care of her children. Our goal – she concluded – is to give her back serenity”. At the end of the defense’s intervention, the hearing was declared closed and postponed to June 5th. (HANDLE).
