Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Criticizes Western Nations and Threatens Retaliation Against Israel: Gaza Conflict Intensifies

Jakarta

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, delivered an Eid al-Fitr speech in the midst of the conflict between Israel and Hamas raging in Gaza. Khamenei said the bloody events in Gaza left bitter memories for Muslims during Ramadan.

“The bloody events in Gaza have left a bitter taste for Muslims around the world during Ramadan this year,” Khamenei said in his speech in Tehran as reported by AlgeriaWednesday (10/4/2024).

Khamenei also criticized the passive attitude of the United States and Britain in responding to the military aggression carried out by Israel in Gaza. He considered this attitude to be a reflection of western civilization today.

“The western government in last year’s incident openly showed the evil nature of western civilization to the world,” he said.

In particular, Khamenei also highlighted Israel’s attack on the consulate building Iran in Syria. He emphasized that there would be a retaliatory attack by Iran against Israel.

“Their armpits attacked our consulate, as if they had attacked our land,” Khamenei said.

“The evil regime has made a mistake in this matter and they must be punished and will be punished,” he continued.

Khamenei’s Eid al-Fitr speech in Tehran was also responded to by the Israeli Foreign Minister, Israel Katz. Through a post on his X account, Katz wrote in Hebrew and Persian ‘if Iran attacks from its own territory, Israel will retaliate and attack in Iran’.
