An amazing football performance was offered to the football fans of the planet by Real Madrid and Manchester City in the first quarter-final of the two teams in the Champions League. In one of the best games in the history of the competition, the two teams drew 3-3 and left open accounts for the rematch…
In the other quarter-final game in London, Arsenal and Bayern also provided a rich spectacle in the 2-2 final. Today they play (22.00), Paris Saint-Germain – Barcelona, Atletico Madrid – Dortmund.
In Madrid, just in the 2nd minute, City surprised the hosts with a very smart free-kick by Silva (everyone was expecting a cross) and opened the score (0-1). But Real’s reaction was immediate and emphatic as in two minutes (12′-14′) they overturned the score, making it very difficult for the English. Initially, Camaviga with a powerful shot that changed course on the body of Stones equalized 1-1 and soon after, Rodrigo went into the open field and neatly placed Ortega for 2-1 in apotheosis in a packed “Bernabeu”.
In the second half, Manchester City was in control of the match with Real looking for counterattacks and having a good chance with Vinicius (54′). But Guardiola’s team managed to reach 2-2 in the 66th minute with a very nice shot by Foden outside the area. The Madrid players were shocked and City took advantage and in the 71st minute Guardiol came with a volley shot to send the ball into the net for the new twist in the match (2-3). But the unique football performance of the last two European champions did not end. In the 79th minute, a terrible shot on the move by Valverde and… 3-3 which was the final result.
In London, Arsenal started furiously against this year’s troubled Bayern and opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a fine shot by Saka. But the Bavarians were not deterred and in the 18th minute they found the equalizer with Gnabri from an assist by Goretzka. And not only that, but in the 32nd minute they won a penalty after Sane was brought down by Saliba and Harry Kane “hurt” the “gunners” (1-2) in the Bayern shirt as he did last year in the Tottenham shirt…
In the 2nd half, Arsenal had the initiative but Bayern comfortably kept the score in their favor and were also looking for the third goal. Finally, two of Arteta’s changes, Jesus and Trosar worked together in the 75th minute and the second with a long shot brought the match to level (2-2). Bayern had a goal in the 90′ with Musiala, while Arsenal screamed for a penalty in stoppage time (Neuer marking Saka).
