It will be on November 8 and 9 – 2024-04-09 19:27:14

Teletón and the National Television Association (Anatel) announced this Tuesday that the television program that will close its 2024 fundraising campaign, the 35th in its 46-year history, will take place on November 8 and 9.
The date was agreed upon with the Chilean TV channels that broadcast the marathon 27-hour television broadcast, which since 1978 has allowed the entire country to unite and convene in support of the work that the institution carries out for the rehabilitation and social inclusion of the most of 32 thousand boys, girls and young people that it serves throughout Chile.

The announcement of the date of the television program that will close this year’s campaign was made this Tuesday at the Teletón Institute in Santiago, the setting chosen to represent the work that the institution can do, from Arica to Coyhaique, thanks to the generous contribution of a country mobilized in solidarity with the cause of rehabilitation and inclusion.

Mario Kreutzberger, co-founder of this work and honorary director of Telethon, when revealing the date of this year’s Telethon, highlighted the country’s historic support for the campaign. “Despite all the difficulties, we have managed to exceed our goals. And there were cases that were extraordinary, such as 60,000 people – in the middle of the pandemic – donated 500 pesos to be present. And that could finally be transformed into wheelchairs and more than 30 million pesos that finally went to finance Teletón. All of this has been achieved through the participation of everyone, through the participation of all Chileans. And I left a special mention to Anatel, which has been with us since the first year on Chilean television,” he said to those present.

For his part, Daniel Fernández, president of the institution’s board of directors, highlighted the work of Teletón as a reflection of the daily effort made by all our professionals and workers, such as those who accompanied the launch of the date. “They also represent all of our people in all the institutes nationwide, who do tremendous and hard work,” he said.

Fernández added that Teletón occurs thanks to collaborative work and that, finally, the owner of this project are the people who donate and contribute 70% of what Teletón raises. “The contribution of the sponsors is very valuable, everything that Anatel, the bank, and maybe we do too is very valuable… But if each person donates a small amount, that is what really builds this project,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the president of Anatel, Pablo Vidal, highlighted the role of Television during the 46 years of the crusade, which he described as “fundamental for this work to reach Chilean families, all homes, and it is a pride to renew the commitment to Telethon.”

The date launch activity was also attended by television faces and ambassadors of the campaign, authorities and professionals from the Teletón team who carry out daily care at the institution.

Martín Cárcamo, Channel 13 host, reflected that “the modern world obviously has many good things, it encourages learning, for example. But there are also things that are complex, because it encourages individualism and little empathy. The Telethon in that sense is stable, the world advances, modernity continues, but the Telethon has values that are too solid and powerful, and that makes it generate a lot of pride. And in that sense it is incredible,” he said.

Teletón and its network of 14 rehabilitation institutes – which in the coming years will be 16 – served 32,233 boys, girls and young people who require rehabilitation treatment for a disability of neuromusculoskeletal origin in 2023. Likewise, 1,495 surgeries were performed and 35,092 orthoses and prostheses were delivered and repaired. And 4,509 technical aids were provided.

In its latest version, the Teletón program reached a peak of 47.3 online rating points, becoming one of the most watched television events of the year.

Teletón 2023, after two days of live broadcast from the Teletón Theater and the unprecedented grand regional closing, held at Quinta Vergara, Teletón managed to raise a total amount of $44,066,375,340 for the operation and operation of the 14 existing institutes of Arica to Coyhaique.
