The house note itself is a sample or specimen money issued by a money printing company or banknote printer. The money printing company in Indonesia is Perum Peruri.
“The purpose of issuing the House Note is to promote its ability to print money using certain technological features,” wrote BI via the social media account @bank_indonesia quoted Tuesday (9/4/2024).
House notes cannot be used as a means of payment. Because the nature of the debt is only an example or specimen. Bank Indonesia emphasized that specimen money does not have the characteristics of rupiah currency as stipulated in Law Number 7 of 2021 concerning Currency.

BI has not issued new rupiah currency to date. The last time Bank Indonesia issued rupiah currency was seven denominations of rupiah banknotes for the 2022 issue year on August 18 2022.
“House Notes from Perum Peruri are not new rupiah currency that can be used as a means of payment,” wrote BI.
As is known, in the viral video about the new currency with a nominal value of 1.0, there is a narrative inserted saying that BI has just released new rupiah currency redenominating IDR 1,000 to one rupiah or IDR 1.0.
