The Civil Guard receives the complaint and issues a letter requesting that the documentation be preserved, as it did before the elections with the complaint for alleged urban planning irregularities that was finally archived.

The mayor of Maracena and other councilors of his government at the doors of the Civil Guard headquarters.
The mayor of Maracena, Julio Pérez, of the PP, has denounced to the Civil Guard the acquisition of medical supplies in the face of the covid-19 pandemic by the previous local government team, of the PSOE, as well as the contracting of various advertising campaigns and of marketing in socialist stages, which has led the Armed Institute to issue a letter this Tuesday for the preservation of the documentation with the original invoices of these operations in physical and digital format.
The complaint has occurred a week before, next Tuesday at 12:00 p.m., the Maracena City Council will meet in an extraordinary plenary session to debate the motion of censure that PSOE, which won the elections last May with a simple majority, and IU have presented with Conecta, a local party that until now had supported Pérez at the head of a quadripartite that includes Vox, so that the Mayor’s Office would be occupied by the current socialist spokesperson, Carlos Porcel.
In the letter from the Civil Guard to the Secretary of the City Council, to which Europa Press has had access, it is specified that the request for preservation of the original documents corresponding to the copies that have been provided with the complaint, which Pérez has formalized with some members of his government, which also includes Quiero Maracena, is done so that the Crimes Against the Administration Team of the Organic Judicial Police Unit can carry out its tasks of investigating the alleged “reported criminal infractions.”
As reported by the Maracena City Council, this is a “complaint for alleged prevarication and misappropriation of public funds between the years 2007 to 2023 against members of the previous government teams, some of which are currently councilors.”
Two sections are specified in the letter relating to contracts with advertising and marketing companies from 2007 “to date” and with a freelancer for the provision of services from that same year “to date”, and another specific to covid health material ” in the period from 2020 until the end of the pandemic.”
“If any elimination occurs” of the documentation that is the subject of the investigative functions of the Judicial Police, “criminal liability could be incurred,” the letter concludes.
In a press conference last week after learning of the motion of censure against him, the mayor anticipated that “things would begin to come out” in these days of previous mandates, in reference to economic and legal issues, according to an audit that the local government commissioned at the time and said that City Hall was closing.
The political situation in Maracena was conditioned in the May electoral campaign by the judicial investigation that was opened after the kidnapping of former socialist councilor Vanessa Romero in February of last year by her then romantic partner, investigated in this case for which He has been on provisional release since last July, from the then mayor, Berta Linares, of the PSOE, who resigned after the elections.
