The Beijing International Film Festival chose the Lebanese film “Cedar” to be screened in its fourteenth session, which will be held from April 18 to 26, starring Diamond Abu Abboud, Betty Tutel, Bilal Al-Hamawi, Katie Younes, written and produced by Sam Faisal Shuaib and Louay Khraish. And directed by Mira Shoaib.
The film is being screened for the first time as the only Arab film to be shown in the “Future of Films” section, as the film highlights its poignant portrayal of women facing difficulties in Lebanon, and also reveals the strength and resilience of women who navigate difficult circumstances with dignity and determination, so that the film is not satisfied with By highlighting not only the beauty of Beirut, but also exploring themes of family, resilience, and empowerment.
For her part, Lebanese director Mira Shuaib confirmed that her enthusiasm to experience the film “Arza” is due to her great interest in women’s issues, adding: “It stars, acts, produces, and is directed by women, and the film represents many Lebanese women. When the author of the work, Faisal Shuaib, spoke to me about the story, “Which was being written by Rebekah Louay Khraish. I was very impressed with the topic and got excited about it, and I began to participate and develop the project with them.”
