San Salvador beats Salvadoreñas and remains unbeatable in the LMBF – – 2024-04-09 01:53:18

The capital team managed to extend its winning streak by securing its eighth consecutive victory by defeating Salvadoreñas 76-71, consolidating itself as the undefeated leader in the classification table. For its part, Salvadoreñas clings to second place, accumulating six wins and two losses so far in the 2024 Apertura Tournament Copa Tigo Sports of the Major Women’s Basketball League (LMBF).

The Inclusive Sports City witnessed a great match between San Salvador and Salvadoreñas and the intensity of the fans of both teams created a festive atmosphere.

From the first quarter, San Salvador imposed its dominance with a resounding score of 26-7 over Salvadoreñas. However, the second period brought with it a change in dynamics, with Salvadoreñas showing an energetic performance that allowed them to cut the lead and win the set 15-25 (41-32).

The level of competition remained intense in the following quarters, with San Salvador retaining its lead after a disputed third roll that ended 20-18 in its favor (61-50). Despite the efforts of Salvadoreñas, who won the last quarter 15-21, San Salvador knew how to maintain the advantage until the end and closed the duel 76-71.

The success of San Salvador was supported by the brilliant performance of the foreign duo composed of Arlenys Romero and Yayma Boulet. Romero stood out with 24 points and an impressive accuracy of 92.86% in free throws, in addition to contributing four assists, which consolidates her as the leader in the league’s overall tally. For his part, Boulet contributed 21 points, nine rebounds, two assists and four more blocks for his personal tally in this campaign, where he has already accumulated 17 blocks in eight games.

Despite the defeat, Salvadoreñas had outstanding individual performances, such as that of Bexy Claro, who achieved a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds, remaining at the top of the league’s top scorers with a total of 211 points in eight games. Emely Tévez also had an outstanding performance by contributing 16 points and five assists for her team.

Tecleño triumph

In the other duel of the day, Santa Tecla won an important victory as a visitor at the David Vega Mojica Gymnasium, in Santa Ana, after defeating the Monseñor Romero Municipal League team (LMMR) 62-72.

With this victory, the Tecleño team added its second win in a row and is in fourth place in the table, with 11 points, the same as Batanecas. While LMMR had its fourth fall in a row and is second to last in the standings with 10 points.
