According to the final results of Saturday’s second round of the sixth direct Slovak presidential election, 53.12 percent of those participating in the election voted for Peter Pellegrini, while his opponent, Ivan Korcok, received 46.87 percent of the votes cast. The participation rate was 61.14 percent, which is the second highest in the history of direct elections to the head of state in Slovakia.
About 4.3 million voters were eligible to participate in the election.
1.4 million people voted for Peter Pellegrini, while Ivan Korcok received 1 million 243 thousand votes. Peter Pellegrini was able to win in seven of Slovakia’s eight counties, Ivan Korcok won more votes in the two largest cities, Bratislava and Kassa, and Bratislava County. Peter Pellegrini also won in districts inhabited by Hungarians, usually with outstanding results.
The election participation was the highest in Bratislava county, exceeding 70 percent, and the lowest in Kassa county, where it was 52 percent.
