The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information announced the suspension of everyone who participated in an artistic work that offends Kuwaiti society, which came as the third punishment for the makers of the series “One Wife is Not Enough.”
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information published a statement on its page on the “X” website, which stated: “Stop anyone who participates in any artistic work that offends Kuwaiti society from participating in any artistic or theatrical works that are filmed or shown inside Kuwait.”
Following the issuance of the decision, the company producing the play “Zein Al-Zaman” announced in a statement that it was retracting its submission.
The statement said: “With reference to the letter issued by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters on Sunday, April 7, 2024, addressed to the Joy Theater Production Company in its capacity as the company producing the theatrical work (Zein Al-Zaman), regarding the failure of the competent committee to approve the play and display it to the public, due to the referral The writer and some of the actors were brought to the Public Prosecution by the Ministry of Information against the backdrop of a television series that included an insult to the values and morals of Kuwaiti society.”
It is noteworthy that the play “Zein Al-Zaman” was written by writer Heba Mishari Hamada, who is the author of the controversial series “One Wife is Not Enough,” starring Hoda Hussein.
The series “One Wife is Not Enough,” which was announced to be stopped and its makers were referred to the Public Prosecution, had sparked widespread controversy in Kuwait because it dealt with sensitive issues, including polygamy, common-law marriage, and incest.
The series is shown on MBC and stars Hoda Hussein, Majed Al-Masry, Nour Al-Ghandour, Aiten Amer, Fatima Al-Safi, and is written by Heba Mishari Hamada, and directed by Ali Al-Ali.
