The Justice investigation regarding the fatal flare-up injury and the death of 31-year-old police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis outside the closed gym “Melina Merkouris” in Rentis was closed without results.
So far, only one 18-year-old fan, who has been remanded in custody by the Piraeus investigator, is accused for the attack with a naval flare.
As reported by ieidiseis.gr, the investigator Piraeus decided to end the investigation for the murder of the police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis, with the only accused being the 18-year-old, who confessed that he threw one of the three naval flares, which caused the fatal outcome.
According to the same sources, the investigator proceeded with this procedural action, so that time would not pass and the 18-year-old would be released from prison for 18 months, without the 18-year-old’s trial having taken place, as the investigation into the disclosure of the instigators and moral perpetrators is pending
There are two scenarios of Justice, for the moral perpetrators and instigators of the incidents.
According to the first version, the investigation by the investigator Piraeus will continue in this direction as well.
According to the second version, the part of the case file on the instigators of Rentis will be merged with the big investigation, on the fan violence, carried out by the Organized Crime, which has been searching for years, based on the names of the 200 hooligans, which they gave to the Justice the former Minister of Citizen Protection Yiannis Oikonomou and the Deputy Minister of Sports Yiannis Vroutsis.
