Dengue vaccine, can I postpone the second dose?

“I had the first dose of the dengue vaccine in Argentina about three months ago. Now that I’m back in Italy, can I avoid the second dose and repeat the vaccine if I have to go to risk areas again?”

Dengue, everything you need to know about the vaccine

Dear Reader,

Vaccination for Dengue fever with the currently available vaccine involves the administration of two doses three months apart. The second dose ensures greater and above all long-lasting protection (4-5 years). Even if a little more time has passed than the standard 90 days (approximately within a year from the first dose), it is still worth completing the vaccination cycle started. If, however, more than a year is left to pass, if he were to travel to risk areas again he will have to repeat the entire vaccination cycle.
