Terror Threat Against Mosques in Oslo: Minor Boy with Far-Right Sympathies Identified as Perpetrator, No Connection to Norway – PST Update

The threat level in Norway does not change and continues at a moderate level following threats against specific mosques in Oslo. PST states that it was a minor boy in a European country, and with no connection to Norway, who made the threats.

“The person behind the threats that were made on the chat channel Discord against several mosques at the weekend has been identified as a minor boy with far-right sympathies from a European country,” reports PST on Monday afternoon.

“He has no ties to Norway. In this case, everything points to a desire to create fear, and that there is neither the ability nor the will to carry out violent acts here in Norway. The person is followed up by the local authorities in the country in which he is a resident,” it further states.

On Saturday morning 6 April, PST was notified in several channels, both from the public and from other partners about a threat directed at Norway, and then specific mosques in Oslo.

PST worked closely with national and international cooperating partners, and the threat was brought down during Sunday when PST succeeded in identifying the person behind it.

“The terrorist threat level in Norway is still moderate. Threats similar to those made on Discord on Saturday are within what can be expected when the terrorist threat level is moderate,” writes PST.
