Yacine Fall, appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Integration, is an economist specializing in economic development and public policy management. A polyglot, she speaks fluent Wolof, English, French and Spanish, and chairs the “Def li là wàr” movement, an organization committed to economic independence, social justice and ethics.
With expertise in development economics and public policy management, Yacine Fall spent 15 years within the United Nations system. During this period, she served as Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research for the Advancement of Women (INSTRaW), based in the Dominican Republic. She was also Economic Advisor and Regional Director of UNIFEM for West and Central Africa, as well as Director of the Economic Division of UN Women in New York.
Ms. Fall joined the ex-Pastef party in 2018, a year before the 2019 presidential election, during which Ousmane Sonko obtained 15% of the vote, placing himself in third place. From October 2022, she assumed the role of Vice-President in charge of International Relations of this political party. This extensive experience within international organizations will constitute a major asset in his new role as head of Senegalese diplomacy.
