Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang received US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in Beijing on Sunday. The two countries should be partners, not opponents, he says.

He adds that there had been a “constructive process” during her meetings in the city of Guangzhou, further south in the country, on Saturday.
Yellen, for her part, emphasizes that both countries have a duty to show responsibility in a difficult relationship.
– Although we have more to do, I believe that over the past year we have given our bilateral relationship a more stable basis. That hasn’t meant overlooking our differences or avoiding difficult conversations, she said.
Among the issues she has raised at the highest level with the Chinese government is the desire for China to rein in its excess factory capacity in areas such as electric vehicles and solar panels.
