General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Muhammadiyah Central Management (PP) Haedar Nashir spoke about the polemic of the Aolia congregation in Gunungkidul. Haedar appealed to the public to prioritize tolerance and dialogue.
“In Gunungkidul and in other places there are also differences, so we are just tolerant of those differences,” said Haedar when interviewed by journalists at the PP Muhammadiyah office, Jogja City, as reported by detikJogjaSunday (7/4/2024).
Haedar said, if there are differences that are too far from the basic provisions, dialogue needs to be invited. Dialogue can involve local figures, related parties, and religious organizations.
“And if it is too far from the basic provisions, then we need to invite dialogue, we need to invite dialogue,” he said.
“If there is a problem, whether it is religious or social, try to promote dialogue,” he continued.
As previously reported, the Aolia congregation in Gunungkidul carried out the 2024 Eid al-Fitr prayers last Friday (5/4). Furthermore, the viral imam of the Aolia congregation in Gunungkidul, KH Ibnu Hajar Pranolo or who is often called Mbah Benu, said ‘call Allah’ regarding the implementation of Eid al-Fitr prayers. Mbah Benu has clarified that his statement was only a term for his spiritual journey.
