The War in Ukraine: Analysis of Hypothetical Russian Plans with Igor Rajev

TV24’s program “About the war in Ukraine with Igor Rajev” analyzed “hypothetical plans” of what the Russian army could do when they have “two new armies, 14 divisions, 16 brigades and everything else”. The NBS reserve colonel and 14th Saeima deputy (non-partisan) Igors Rajevs commented on these plans in more detail.

“They can’t do that at the moment, but everything they tell and show, and what their plans are, everything shows that. There will be three places where they could do it. Fourth, of course, is Kyiv,” NBS reserve colonel Rajev said while showing the map in the program. “But to talk that Russia could seriously threaten Kyiv in some way in the next six months – no, it is from non-scientific fiction, and that’s not what we’re talking about,” he added.

Rajev emphasized that there are three districts where “the same trend” has been observed in Ukraine recently. “And those districts are Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and Odesa. And what do we see in these three districts? Energy infrastructure is being systematically attacked in all three districts. We see that it is especially hard in Kharkiv. There was that big missile strike, and six or seven different types of thermal power plants were hit there. It disrupts the energy supply,” explained the NBS reserve colonel in the TV24 program.

Moreover, seeing the latest Russian drone attacks, it is noticeable that there is “very, very little light” in Odessa. “This means that they use light only in the facilities where they can afford it,” Rajev said.

On the other hand, the second negative thing that is visible is the decrease in the capacity of air defense systems in all three directions mentioned by Rajev. “Unfortunately, this is again pronounced in Kharkiv. One of Ukraine’s air defense systems is concentrated in this place,” Rajev explained in detail, pointing to the Kharkiv region on the Ukrainian-Russian border. “It covered everything and prevented the Russian air force from approaching Kharkiv,” he added.

The NBS reserve colonel also explained in detail that the Russian aviation is now closer to the front line. “They can launch bombs at Kharkiv so that they fly away and hit the target,” Rajev said. Now there is still the question of how many air defense systems the Ukrainians have left – where are they located and what do they do? “But we see that the air defense system is weakened in several directions – this is a fact. Not only in this war Patriot shot down planes, but unfortunately the Ukrainian army also has losses in all systems. Two sides are at war, and the Russian side is also destroying air defense systems,” the expert commented.

“If we go back to the question, when the hell is that help going to come? When will a decision be made as to when that money will be distributed? If European countries are now quite difficult to shake themselves Patriot systems or something similar, then give the Americans about 10 to 20 Patriot systems do not cause any difficulties at all. We are waiting for a decision on that American slightly, because now the system is compromised. Now is a moment of weakness and the Russian army cannot be allowed to take advantage of this moment of weakness,” explained Rajev in the TV24 program “About the war in Ukraine with Igor Rajev”.
