PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) reveals express and regular ferry tickets Merak Harbor–Bakauheni Orders for all vehicle categories have been sold out until Monday (8/4) or H-2 Eid. ASDP deliver according to peak current predictions going home crossings occur on Saturday (6/4) or D-4 to Sunday (7/4).
Corporate Secretary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Shelvy, said that the volume of vehicles heading to Merak Harbor continued to increase from Saturday (6/4) morning until this afternoon. He said more than 46 thousand vehicles had crossed from Merak to Bakauheni Lampung.
“Thank you for the very high enthusiasm of homecoming travelers on the Merak-Bakauheni route, where the total number of passengers crossing from H-7 to H-5 from Java to Sumatra has reached 222 thousand people and 46,250 vehicles,” said Shelvy in a statement to journalists, Saturday (6/4/2024).
The enthusiasm of the travelers was so high that ferry tickets for both express and regular services for the Merak-Bakauheni Harbor route were sold out until the scheduled departure Monday (8/4).
“We appeal to all people who want to cross from Java to Sumatra to buy tickets again after April 8 2024 for the convenience and safety of service users when traveling by ferry, especially during the Eid homecoming season this year,” said Shelvy.
Tickets are available only for pedestrians, both express and regular services at Merak Harbor. Meanwhile, tickets for motorbike travelers are still available via Ciwandan-Banten Port.
“Currently, 30 percent of two-wheeled vehicles at Ciwandan Port are still available because 70 percent have been sold,” he said.
Promotion of Ferizy online ticket purchases can be done 60 days before the day of departure, so that by making a travel reservation early, the trip will be more secure, safer, and there will be no need to queue.
“Make sure to buy tickets online independently only on the Ferizy website at trip.ferizy.com or the Ferizy application and official Ferizy partners. Please cooperate with service users, don’t buy tickets when you’re just heading to the port, and avoid buying tickets via brokers in the port area,” Shelvy said.
The number of ferry passengers transporting Eid this year is estimated to reach 5.78 million passengers and 1.37 million vehicles on 8 Nationally monitored routes which are under the coordination of 9 ASDP Branches.
The movement of people during Eid 2024 is predicted to increase by 15%, referring to the realization of last year’s Eid. This year, several auxiliary ports will be re-operated to reduce vehicle congestion, such as the operation of Ciwandan Port, BBJ Bojonegara, BBJ Muara Pilu and Indah Kiat (emergency) Port which leads to Sumatra Island.
Based on data from the Merak Command Post for the period 5 April 2024 until 23.59 WIB or D-5, the number of ships operating was recorded as 48 ships. The total number of passengers crossing from Java to Sumatra reached 95,136 people, an increase of 15% compared to the realization in the same period last year of 81,955 people.
It was recorded that 4,600 two-wheeled vehicles had crossed, an increase of 4% compared to last year’s realization of 4,441 units. It was recorded that 4,596 two-wheeled vehicles and 700 logistics vehicles had been transferred from Java to Sumatra via Ciwandan Port. In total, production reached 5,296 vehicles and the number of passengers was 9,892 people.
The number of ships operating on the Ciwandan-Bakauheni route is 9 ships with a total service of 17 trips. Meanwhile, on the Ciwandan-Bakauheni route, currently the number of online motorbike ticket reservations from D-7 to D-1 is still at 28,449 units or 77% of the total available quota.
Furthermore, four-wheeled vehicle traffic reached 13,168 units or an increase of 23% compared to the realization in the same period last year of 10,639 units. A total of 20,412 vehicles were recorded as having crossed from Java to Sumatra in H-5, an increase of 16% compared to the realization in the same period last year of 15,116 units.
Meanwhile, the total number of passengers crossing from Java to Sumatra from H-7 to H-5 was recorded at 212,589 people, down 5% compared to the realization in the same period last year of 222,624 people. And the total number of vehicles that crossed was recorded at 46,250 units, down 0.2% compared to the realization in the same period last year of 46,349 units.
