The day before, on April 5, an earthen dam on the Ural River burst in the Russian city of Orsk, Orenburg Region. Thousands of houses fell into the flood zone, several thousand local residents had to be evacuated, write Medusa.
According to rosZMI, more than 4,000 houses and more than 10,000 residents were in the flooding zone. Almost 2,500 houses were flooded directly in the city of Orsk. About 4,000 residents were evacuated from there.

The head of Orsk Vasiliy Kazulitsia said that the water level will not decrease in the coming days, it may take one and a half to two weeks.
In addition, the Orenburg embankment, located 270 km from Orsk, was under water overnight. Local authorities have called for the evacuation of residents of areas at risk of flooding.
Also, according to rosZMI, the water level is rising in the Sorochyn Reservoir, located in the same Orenburg Region. Because of this, settlements located on the Samara River are also at risk of flooding.
