PUTTEN Around 3 p.m. a serious accident occurred at the intersection of Oude Rijksweg and Hoofdlaan between a car and a cyclist.
The crossing cyclist was hit by the car and died almost immediately. The road is completely closed.
The motorist was taken to the station by police for questioning. The police traffic forensics department will investigate. A drone team also arrived on site.
Several serious collisions have occurred at this intersection in the past. Despite many adjustments, many residents of Putten still believe this intersection is not safe enough.
