WASTE MANAGEMENT: WHICH INNOVATIONS HAVE BEEN APPROVED?

We invite residents to familiarize themselves with the main changes in municipal waste management rules. We also inform you that the new local toll and waste management regulations have been approved.

Main changes:

• There are no green waste collection bags with a set standard for individual holdings. Green waste is collected in 0.24 cubic meter green waste containerswhich local toll payers take at their own expense from large waste collection sites. Containers are distributed by municipal waste administrator VšĮ “Gargždų švara”. Containers are serviced from April 1. until November 30 Residents can deliver larger quantities to the Vēžaičiai green waste composting site on their own.
• It is planned that the residents of the city of Gargždai will have the opportunity from autumn to sort food (kitchen) waste and use the general food (kitchen) waste containers planned to be installed in apartment yards.
• Enter requirements for biodegradable waste for the installation of composting boxes. When composting at home, the composting site must be chosen in a secluded (as far as possible from residential buildings) part of the plot, no closer than 2 meters from the border of neighboring plots. With the written consent of the user of the adjacent plot, the composting area can be installed at a distance of less than 2 meters from the adjacent plot. Composting containers (boxes), except when green waste is stored in them, must be closed, ensuring the prevention of leakage of liquids and the spread of odors.
• Residents must comply when delivering their waste to bulk waste collection sites In the rules for receiving waste at large waste collection and green waste composting sites, established procedures. These rules are published on the websites of Klaipėda District Municipality and Public Enterprise “Gargždų švara”.
• Expected 4 times a year to collect bulky waste with mobile containers from those areas where the Klaipėda district municipality has not installed large waste collection sites (Judrėnai-Endriejavo-Veiviržėnai territory).
• Revised lists of packaging wastewhich can be thrown into the appropriate packaging waste containers.
• Abandoned payment notifications for local toll for municipal waste collection and management sending by mail. Notifications can be received in several ways: by e-mail, by SMS message, on the self-service website of VšĮ “Gargždų švara” https://savitarnagargzdai.mokesta.lt/account/loginVšĮ “Gargždų švara” facility (Klaipėdos st. 20, Gargždai) or at any large waste collection site of Klaipėda district municipality.
• For persons who have registered their activity according to the procedure established by law and who trade or provide services at the cemetery belonging to the municipality of Klaipėda district, the local toll will not be applied for the collection and management of municipal waste (you will only have to pay for the permission to sell/provide the service).
