In a small but clear step, Azerbaijan took a step towards recognizing the Occupied, with the blessings of Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Turkey. As announced earlier today, the National Assembly of Azerbaijan voted to establish a Working Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the (so-called) “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” (TRNC).
The establishment of the Working Group was approved by the first vote, it was headed by MP Chavanshir Feiziyev and its goal is to “enhance cooperation between the two ‘states’, strengthen ties and promote mutual understanding”.
Drawing attention to the policies pursued by Turkic states to keep up with the new global geopolitical realities, Feyziyev stated: “Integration processes among modern Turkish ‘states’ have become necessary to benefit to the maximum extent from the process of globalization and to ensure the future of Turkish culture, its place and role in the world order. The establishment of close cooperation at the parliamentary level between the “TRNC” and Azerbaijan is one of the most successful steps in the process of integration of the Turkish “states”. Being elected as the chairman of such a cooperation process is a great honor for me. Together with all our colleagues, we will fight for the unity of the Turkish world and its future successes.”
It is noted that for a long time the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his meetings with his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev, in essence organized the international recognition of the Occupied, creating the conditions for the “TRNC” to be included in the work of the Organization of Turkic States.
