The history of the automobile in the United States has generated countless names, some better known than others. There are some firms that did not make the jump in popularity towards the European continent that some giants in the sector achieved. However, they gave rise to relevant creations that have occupied a prominent place in North American automotive heritage.
One of those cases is the Hudson brand, which became a true legend in the early 1950s within the world of the popular American racing category NASCAR. With more than sixty victories to its credit between 1952 and 1954 in this discipline, the firm is also known for having created authentic four-wheeled jewels.

One of them was the Hudson Hornet, an iconic model that was even chosen to appear as one of the characters in the well-known animated film Cars, produced by Pixar. If you have seen the feature film, you probably remember the veteran Doc. In any case, the unit that stars in this article is an even more special version of the model, since it is a Hudson Hornet Hollywood.
The veteran Doc
The Hudson Hornet was chosen to appear as one of the characters in the well-known animated film Cars.
This alternative is characterized by a slim two-door body and is a variant manufactured in 1956 of which only 1,053 units were produced. The example in the images is restored but remains fully operational and maintains both the original 5.8-liter Packard V8 engine and the original Ultramatic automatic transmission.

At first glance, and continuing with references to cinema, it may remind you of the cars used in numerous American ‘gangster’ films. The colors chosen for the restoration received by this Hollywood Hornet are striking, as different green tones are combined both on the outside and inside the cabin.

Among the equipment of this restored classic American car, it is worth noting the presence, today, of drum brakes, power steering, AM radio and air conditioning. Currently, the odometer reads just over 90,650 km, although it stopped working a long time ago, so the distance traveled by this veteran of the last century will be noticeably greater.
Few copies
Only 1,053 units of this two-door Hollywood version were manufactured.
In the last restoration, the engine received a tune-up and the installation of an electric fuel pump. Despite almost seven decades passing, it still maintains a power close to the 220 HP that it registered in its beginnings.

As a curiosity, we must remember that the Hudson Hornet Hollywood cost just over $3,400 when it went on the market in 1956. It was a fairly high price for the time in the United States, clearly above the average cost of a car from those years in the American country.
