They are spelled the same but have nothing in common
Kool & the Gang (1984)
Recruiting a singer into a group can change everything. A highly respected instrumental jazz-funk band since its beginnings in 1969, Kool & The Gang entered another dimension when their leader Ronald Khalis Bell decided, under the influence of disco-pop sirens, to hire a singer in 1978. With James “JT” Taylor in her ranks, but also the arranger and musician Eumir Deodato, she will cross the 80s accompanied by a series of thunderous hits, including this scintillating Fresh. Last year Kool & The Gang released their 34th album: People Just Wanna Have Fun. Like a nice summary of the explanation of this incredible popularity.
Daft Punk (1994)
During the first seconds and the surge of a distorted guitar, we wonder where this unreleased Jimi Hendrix song comes from. Except that then comes an instantly recognizable filtered house swing. But yes, of course, it’s Thomas & Guy Man! Not yet robots, nor helmets, the two friends published a first album, Homework, a launching pad for the French Touch. But, in the middle of the brilliant Revolution 909, Da Funk or Rollin & Scratchin, this Fresh appears largely dispensable, apart from this surprising intro. As proof, this title has never been performed live. For reformation?
