On April 4-5, the Russian army tried to enter with infantry the outskirts of Chasovoy Yar in the Donetsk region (Vostochny or Kanal district), but was unable to gain a foothold. As of April 5, 2024, the Ukrainian army is in complete control of the city.

Direct speech by Dmitry Zaporozhets: “On April 4, the occupying forces repeatedly carried out assaults in the direction of Chasovoy Yar. The first of them in this direction began in the morning, at approximately 5:30.

The fact that the orcs (Russian army – UP) are in the city itself is not true. There were attempts to enter the nearest buildings by enemy infantry along the O0506 road (Vremen Yar-Khromovo-Bakhmut – UP). Neither enemy equipment nor manpower had the opportunity to gain a foothold on the outskirts of the city.
If we take the location of enemy troops from the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal to the nearest place of concentration of artillery and enemy forces, then this is approximately 3-3.5 km.
Details: According to the UP, as of the evening of April 5, the Russians are standing a few hundred meters from the first buildings of Chasovoy Yar. They constantly carry out assault actions.
The situation is also difficult in the village of Ivanovskoye, located southeast of Chasovoy Yar. According to the UP, the Ukrainian army controls about a third of the settlement, and there are heavy street battles.
Why is it important: Both Ivanovskoe and Chasov Yar play a big role in containing the enemy in the attack on Konstantinovka and, accordingly, other cities of the Kramatorsk agglomeration. As military personnel working in the direction explain to the UP, the capture of Ivanovsky and Vremenny Yar will allow the Russians to move their artillery closer and begin to “disassemble” Konstantinovka.
