The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that 3 thousand former militants of the Wagner PMC, together with a commander with the call sign “Ratibor”, are moving to the special unit of the Russian Guard “Akhmat” controlled by him.

According to Kadyrov, the Russian Ministry of Defense has already allocated the required number of vacancies in the Akhmat team.

Russian propagandists write that all organizational issues will be resolved in the near future, and terrorists will be able to begin “carrying out operational combat missions.”

It should be noted that in June 2023, a conflict occurred between the owner of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and Kadyrov’s entourage. Strong statements were made against Prigozhin due to significant losses and criticism of Russian military officials. Things almost came to an armed confrontation between the Wagnerites and Kadyrovites. According to Prigozhin, the situation was resolved with the direct participation of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The Wagner leader stated that the conflict was incited by “one of the Kremlin towers.”

PMC “Wagner” after the death of Prigozhin

After the death of the owner of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, on August 23, 2023, some of the mercenaries were transferred to Belarus. British intelligence estimated their number as of July 2023 at several thousand people.

According to ISW, in Belarus, Wagnerites trained local special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the military.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported in January 2024 that another part of the mercenaries was subordinate to the Russian Armed Forces, and another one had joined similar private companies.

In March, the monitoring group “Belarusian Gayun” reported that some of the mercenaries of the Wagner PMC left Belarus for Russia.
