UN Toughens Stance Against Israel Amid Gaza Offensive: Global Pressure Mounts

Dubai: After intense pressure from the countries of the world, the UN has toughened its stance against Israel. As the Gaza offensive enters its sixth month, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on Israel to end its atrocities.

The UN Human Rights Council has passed a resolution to stop arms sales to Israel in view of Israel’s continued attacks on the civilian community. The resolution was passed by 28 votes against six in the 47-member Human Rights Council. 13 countries, including the United States and Germany, abstained from the vote.

Israel informed the council that it had taken steps to secure more aid to Gaza. Although it is not obliged to implement the resolution, this is a big setback for Israel at the diplomatic level. The UN Security Council also strongly criticized Israel’s actions. Russia and China accused the Security Council of Israel’s military action, which killed 33,000 people, as a flagrant violation of international law.

The representatives of various countries pointed out that the Israeli brutality that starves Gaza cannot be eradicated at the meeting of the Security Council. Israel has begun moving more aid to Gaza to quell global outcry over the killing of international volunteers. Britain has made it clear that Israel has announced that it can deliver 500 trucks full of aid to Gaza every day.

Last-ditch efforts to implement a temporary ceasefire during Ramadan have reportedly failed. Hamas blamed the negative attitude adopted by Israel in the talks held in Cairo. Various media have reported that the American Intelligence Agency has informed that there will be a counter attack by Iran at any time against Israel, which attacked the consulate in Damascus, the Syrian capital. According to reports, there is a possibility of an attack on the Israeli diplomatic center using drones and cruise missiles. Israeli media also reported that Netanyahu received assurances from Biden that Israel would have US support if Iran attacked.
