The musical career of Roxy Dekker goes like a rocket. The 19-year-old singer scores hit after hit and her agenda is full of performances at the biggest festivals. But, the transition from TikTok to such a big stage is quite exciting, as Roxy admitted last night in the talk show Beau.
Hitmachine
We can now say that Roxy Dekker is a true hit machine. It is therefore hard to imagine that it has only been one year since her first song Anne-Fleur Holiday came out. The song originated from a series in which people on TikTok were allowed to leave four words, which Roxy then turned into a song. Anne-Fleur Holiday became a huge hit, but just missed the Top 40.
That all changed with her second single Satisfyer came out. This was in the Top 40 for no less than 15 weeks and even became a top 10 hit. And, there is a very good chance that you too can sing along to the song word for word.
Sugar daddy
Her latest single was released yesterday Sugar daddy out. Five weeks ago, Roxy started teasing this song on TikTok and – surprise, surprise – inside no-time it was another hit on the video platform. Last weekend the young singer performed in front of thousands of people at Paaspop and what she might not have seen coming was that everyone could already sing along to the song at the top of their lungs. The images are bizarre!
Nerves
Although Roxy loves being on such big stages, she also suffers from ‘a kind of fear of failure’. She announced that last night Beau. Before her performance at Paaspop, she ‘almost fainted’ from the tension. “I just really feel like I have to do it right,” she explains. Fortunately, once on stage, those nerves disappear like snow in the sun. “In the end, once I’m there, it’s completely gone,” she says. “The difficult thing is, when you get so enthusiastic, you no longer pay attention to how you are singing. And then afterwards I think: ooh…”
Fortunately, she can count on good people to give advice. Among other Claude is a good friend of Roxy and provides her with the necessary tips and tricks.
