/ world today news/ What Minister Stefan Yanev said in the first hours after the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine has nothing to do with its removal – that is the exact word.
The semantics of his statement from five days ago and its interpretation /five days ago/ will not provide answers to the questions that have arisen. Wasn’t he suspended because he said that #Bulgaria would demand compensation for the delay in the delivery of F-16 fighter jets? And is it true that he opposed sending exterminators from Bulgaria to Ukraine and thus directly intervening in the military conflict?
And maybe, the war in #Ukraine will turn out to be the “black swan” in Bulgaria’s unwavering position for the start of EU negotiations with the Republic of North Macedonia?!? Shouldn’t it suddenly become “vitally important” to trample on all our principled positions and speed up the negotiations? For no other reason, but Yanev is consistent in his position on the negotiations both as acting prime minister and as a member of the government.
There are many questions, the answers must be given by the government and the coalition. No excuses such as “but according to our coalition agreement, each party makes its own decisions about personnel selection” do not work. First, because their coalition agreement is not the Bible to be once and for all, and frankly, almost nobody cares. In Bulgaria, it is important for the governments to comply with the Constitution and not to violate it, and not any coalition agreements. Second, because the government of the state is a homogeneous structure, not a conglomerate of feudal estates. Thirdly, because at this very moment it is absolute stupidity to remove the Minister of Defense who had the audacity to declare that the national interest of Bulgaria is of paramount importance.
