The Balticconnector gas pipeline running between Finland and Estonia has been repaired, reports Gasgrid Finland, which is responsible for gas transmission in Finland.
The operation of the pipe was disrupted on October 8, 2023. The investigation by the Finnish authorities revealed that a strong external force had been applied to the gas pipe, and it was not an explosion.
An anchor was found in the sea near the pipe, which broke the pipe. It is suspected to have been the anchor of the Newnew Polar Bear cargo ship of the Chinese shipping company.
According to Gasgrid, the repair work has been completed according to plans. The durability of the pipe has already been tested. According to Gasgrid’s estimate, the last stages of the pipeline commissioning will be completed on April 22, when the sea pipeline connection can be returned to the gas market.
