Up and down they happened at OAKA with the loss of a cheap electrical device, with G. Vroutsis discussing with the president of the stadium the possibility of her resignation
On March 21, the Deputy Minister of Sports Giannis Vroutsis presented the 1st report of e-Kouros, the digital recording of Greek sports, in the central press room of OAKA. The atmosphere was festive, however, when the dozens of guests left and the lights from the cameras turned off, the scene changed. The result was a conversation between G. Vroutsis and the president of OAKA Gogo Phyrigou-Consolo in which he said that if the situation does not change, he will ask for her resignation. In the telephone communication, other conversations will be said, as recently there has been tension at a high administrative level in the stadium.
The event
What happened and the minister again dealt with the administration of OAKA? It all started with a… lost toaster! After the presentation of the electronic platform e-Kouros, the former diver and chosen by the Minister of Sports for the position of the president of the Board of Directors of OAKA found that the toaster that had been charged by the competent service of the stadium had been lost. There was a relevant (and formal) briefing, as is customary in these cases, but the matter reached the minister’s office. Apparently, the events were conveyed somewhat “inflated” to G. Vroutsis and at the expense of the president of OAKA. But it was a fact that the toaster “disappeared” on the day of the event of the Ministry of Sports.
The minister therefore contacted Ms. Phyrigou by phone and at the conclusion of their conversation he reportedly told her that he might ask her to submit her resignation if there is a disturbance at the stadium… lasting. Some employees of OAKA say that the minister told the president that he should resign immediately. The bottom line is that after the phone call in question G. Phyrigou felt unwell, her colleagues called an ambulance and for several hours she remained in a public hospital where she underwent a series of tests. Fortunately, it wasn’t anything serious and since the beginning of the week she’s been in her office as usual. This means that the minister did not bring up the issue of her resignation and thus the president, at least in the current period, was not led to leave the OAKA administration.
Apocalypse
The Documento in the sheet of March 10 highlighted that the relations of G. Phyrigou with the coordinating general director of OAKA Konstantinos Halioris are bad. The two cannot work together and this is evident from what the president mentioned in her email to the CEO of the Olympic facilities. She denounced him for “impermissible conduct” and informed him in writing that “this is the last time this will happen. Next time I will propose disciplinary measures to the Board of Directors”! This alone shows that their coexistence in the “jewel” of Greek sports is problematic. It is no coincidence that after the presidential email the minister called both of them to his office and told them to tone down for the good of all.
At the event of the Ministry of Sports for e-Kouros, the relevant publication of Documento was the main topic of discussion among the officials of OAKA. Some of them asked board members, between serious and joking, whether they are “with the president or the powerful general manager?”. Most of them, for understandable reasons, avoided taking a stand, but it is a fact that the administration of OAKA remains problematic since the president blames the No. 1 executive of the stadium for his behavior…
