Over the weekend, the weightlifting international competition “Panevėžys – 520” was held in Panevėžys to celebrate the centenary of Lithuanian weightlifting. Athletes of various ages from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania participated.
In the competition, the people of Gargždi performed well – everyone improved their personal achievements. The first barbells were lifted by boys in the weight category up to 81 kg. Deiron Sudaris lifted 35 kg in the deadlift, 48 kg in the deadlift and 83 kg in the doubles. It is worth noting that Deiron is only 12 years old. Another young and promising athlete, Nojus Brazdeikis, performed well. He improved his personal result in the duel by even 10 kg. He lifted 97 kg in the deadlift, 117 kg in the push and 214 kg in the duel. Noah became the winner of this tournament. In the weight category up to 109 kg, the winner was Aurimas Raudys, who lifted 115 kg in the pull action, 149 kg in the push action and collected 256 kg in the duel.
Among the masters, all three from Gargždi became winners. In the weight category up to 96 kg, Edgaras Skuodas lifted 100 kg in the deadlift action, 115 kg in the push action and collected 215 kg in the duel. In the weight category up to 109 kg, Vaclovas Rimgaila lifted 100 kg in the deadlift action, 120 kg in the push action and collected 220 kg in the duel. In the weight category 109 kg, Laimutis Daugėla lifted 70 kg in the deadlift action, 90 kg in the push action and collected 160 kg in the duel.
According to the coach Edvardas Šauklis, only those who trained honestly throughout the summer and sought results went to the competition.
