Blas Cantó (32 years old) has become over the years one of the most common faces on television in our country, in addition to being one of the singers with the best voice on the national music scene. The performer, who was born on October 26, 1991 in Ricote (Murcia), has art in his veins and from a very young age he knew what he wanted to do. Although many only know him for his stage at Eurovision (he should have gone in 2020 but the festival was suspended due to the pandemic and he finally went in 2021 after losing his father and grandmother to the coronavirus), his career was already consolidated thanks to Auryn, group in which he was successfully for 6 years.
The singer was the winner of the fifth edition of ‘Your face sounds familiar’, he has demonstrated his great empathy and humanity in the hidden cameras of ‘Gente Maravillosa’ and now he has dared to show his culinary skills in ‘Bake Off: celebrities in the oven’, Spanish Television format in which it has reached the final. Lecturas.com wanted to talk to Blas to find out how the experience went, sThe next step is ‘MasterChef Celebrity’‘Survivors’ or ‘GH VIP’, what you really think about Benidorm Fest, what bothers you about the headlines in the press and your mental health.
Blas sang in the final of ‘Bake Off’: famous people in the oven’
Without vacation plans for Easter because he really likes Madrid without many people, we spoke with Blas by phone to find out how he felt until reaching the final of a culinary ‘talent’ that has nothing to do with his true profession. “It’s a very cool final. The pressure is a billion times greater because you don’t reach. Especially at this moment, more than flavor, which we have learned over the weeks and you have it under control, it has to enter through the eyes. It has to be spectacular on a visual level,” says Cantó, who You really feel “shocked” to have reached this point because he even thought that in some programs he would leave.
Making it clear that he has laughed a lot with Alba Carrillo or Yolanda Ramos, Blas confesses to us that he has had a lot of affinity with Ana Boyer, whom he defines as a girl who has been awakening throughout the contest. “It makes me very sad because in the edition there are many things that they don’t include. Very funny from both of them. They could have brought out the most mischievous part of me. I don’t know who decided to soften my image. I wouldn’t have minded if it was seen because there are very cool moments. Nor they have put it because they are politically correct“confesses the artist, who tells us that we have missed many “rogue” scenes from the contest. “Paula Vázquez scolded me behind the cameras because I took out my cell phone in the evaluations, which seemed eternal when we were all there,” he adds as an anecdote.
Blas Cantó reveals that when he started ‘Bake Off’ he couldn’t find his place.

Telling us that he has felt “very loved” by the entire program team (which has made him realize that he is someone good and fun), Blas confesses to us that for the moment he would not go to ‘MasterChef Celebrity’. “This was unexpected. I hadn’t planned it. I found myself cooking, which I like, but what a pressurefrom the. She didn’t know this was so heavy. They tell me that ‘MasterChef’ is even worse, so I can’t. I need therapy with my psychologist and then come back“Says the singer, who recognizes that one of the things he has talked about with the mental health professional is that he had many prejudices with the format.”I didn’t know what I was doing there. I wasn’t going to sing and if I did it wasn’t my thing. The editors told me to sing while cooking, but I didn’t feel my place. Little by little I discovered it and I had a good time,” she reveals.
Blas Cantó rules out ‘Survivors’ or ‘GH VIP’
Making it clear that you never know because life takes many turns, Blas rules out for the moment (it is not part of his plans in the short or long term) any type of participation in ‘Survivors’ or ‘GH VIP’. Of course, he Cantó clarifies that he hopes to never need it. “I can’t say I won’t drink this water.. If I ever needed it I would do it. Out of necessity we drop our pants and nothing happens. Currently I don’t see it and I don’t judge anyone who does it for whatever reason. I admire those who do it because it means exposing themselves in a very intimate way. “They are very brave,” he comments.
A few weeks ago, Blas worried his fans a lot with the confession of some memory problems that I had suffered a few months ago due to stress. Some words that caused a great stir in the media and that he told us that he would like to clarify. “I am surprised by this that the press is sensationalist. I told it as an anecdote. I went to the neurologist, they did tests and they saw that it was no longer important. ‘The great great drama of Blas, click and…’. For one click bomb headlines are made and you have to think that sometimes people only read that. There’s no need,” she comments.
Having just arrived from his appointment with the psychologist (where he has been going since he was 8 years old), Blas confesses about his mental health and tells us that every time he goes he feels like a child who is debuting something new and going to school. “I really like going to manage and have tools to use at certain times in life. It’s cool and I’m really excited to go and I really like the day I go. I notice the evolution“, he confesses. In addition, from the identity thefts he has suffered over the years, the interpreter of ‘The Good Ends Bad’ has more than assimilated that he can’t do anything. “It’s inevitable. I hope they don’t report me in case someone messes up by pretending to be me. I have assumed it,” he explains.
How is Blas Cantó really doing? How do you feel? “I’m fine. I’m not at war because I felt like at one point I was always on the defensive, angry, sad. I was in a very screwed up personal state and that is reflected when you heal.. I’m no longer at war with everyone. Now I am at peace and I feel very good,” she confesses.
Blas Cantó’s new projects
The artist has released ‘Lo Tried’, a song in which he has united his most emotional side with the magnetism of Franco Rey, one of the promises of the Mexican music scene. A very personal project with which we want to get closer to the other side of the pond. “I haven’t been in a long time and I love it. I really want to go back and I have many songs on that path that are very me. In this style I feel very real, very comfortable. At first we didn’t know if we were going to release it together, but in the end it was a duet, it’s great,” he says. The song talks about breakups and the pain they cause us. Has Blas suffered a lot for love? Does he talk about his own experiences?
“I have enjoyed a lot when I have had love and I have suffered a lot when it has ended. I am very passionate about my experiences. I live everything very intensely, although this song talks about Franco’s songs. The story is about what he felt and I helped him. This is the daily bread, when only one person changes in the relationship. It is very difficult. Hopefully I will sing it on April 12 in Madrid, on the 13th in Murcia and on the 19th in Valencia“he explains to us.

Blas Cantó gets wet about the Benidorm Fest and Eurovision
Blas was our representative at Eurovision in one of the worst moments of his life. The coronavirus pandemic was ravaging the world and in 2020 the festival was cancelled. It was the following year when his father and his grandmother had died. Would he show up again? What do you think of Benidorm Fest? Cantó is very clear about it.
“We have already presented songs for the Benidorm Fest and it surprises me because they were better than this year’s. I don’t know the decisions that are made. I speak from the ego. I see that things don’t change. It’s very strong,” she begins by saying about the preselection, which she says we have to keep working on because the real goal has been left aside. “You have to be demanding and take the songs into account. Not whoever composed them or who sings them. Sometimes you see the duster. I think the level can be better,” she comments. From ‘Zorra’, the song that represents us in 2024 Blas believes that “it’s amazing” because it has turned into an insult. “I like it because I see my mother and her friends singing it about her. That whole generation who was criticized for doing what they wanted,” she admits.
“I would love for Toñi Prieto to lead the Eurovision candidacy again. I like how clear it is. With Eva Mora, Alicia León and Ana María Bordás they would be the perfect team. When I went it was very complicated to manage because they had a sad and depressed interpreter.. It wasn’t easy for anyone. Over time you make time for many things. I think Eurovision is a purpose and there has been more playlist selection than for the contest. If you don’t want to go to the festival and just want to be played on the radio, consider it“, he concludes bluntly.
