Four Israeli police officers were injured in a car attack on a checkpoint in central Israel, their service announced today, clarifying that the attacker is dead. The officers were admitted to hospital with minor injuries
Specifically, the driver, 26 years old, initially drove his car into four police officers at a roadblock to check passengers in Kohav Yair, a community neighboring the occupied West Banknortheast of Tel Aviv, according to an Israeli police statement.

The attacker “continued on his way to the Eligiou checkpoint (near the Palestinian city of Qalqilya), where he tried to stab police officers, who neutralized him”, continues the police statement, which clarifies that his death was confirmed on the spot . The episode took place against the backdrop of the ongoing Israel/Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.
Some 1,160 people, mostly civilians, were killed in southern sectors of Israeli territory in the unprecedented raid by Hamas’ military arm on October 7, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli data.
