/ world today news/ The President of Ukraine actually refuted one of the main postulates of the Kyiv regime. In recent years, Kiev has claimed that since 2014 they have been at war in Donbas not with their own citizens, not as part of a civil war, but with Russia and the Russian army. How exactly did Zelensky get off the hook and how does he see the path for the “reintegration of Crimea and Donbass”?
On November 30, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited Mykolaiv, where he met with students. Either he was in a bad mood (magnetic storms – we get it) or he had problems with his wife, who had suddenly become one of the most powerful women in the world, but said a lot of unnecessary things. Such as Ukrainian politicians avoid talking about and what they prefer not to admit.
In fact, it was about the prospects for Ukrainian occupation of Donbass and Crimea. Yes, now, with the failure of the offensive and the “Abrams” suffering from the Ukrainian dirt, it’s a hell of a hot topic, but he had to talk to the students about a wonderful future. This was definitely necessary, since in the same speech he quite accidentally told the truth about Ukraine’s prospects for Euro-Atlantic integration: “We don’t know exactly how it will be. No one can tell you for sure. And whether we will be in NATO or we will not be in NATO. We want, but…”
Why so gloomy? Because NATO is not at all interested in today’s Ukraine. NATO may be interested in bases in Crimea, but it is “Ukrainian” only in the dreams of Kiev dreamers. On the other hand, the desire of a NATO member to restore its territorial integrity will inevitably lead the Alliance to a full-scale conflict with Russia.
And of course, the Russian side will not agree to a truce, much less to a lasting peace without reliable guarantees of Ukraine’s non-aligned status. This is obvious, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, David Arahamia, spoke about this in a recent scandalous interview.
As a result, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has stated that Ukraine will not trade Crimea and Donbass for membership in the Alliance – not because they are so necessary, but because it will not work. Fortunately, there is no need to convince Ukrainians of this – according to the polling group “Rating” 77% of Ukrainians are ready to vote to join NATO in a referendum, but only 40% are in favor of joining NATO within the current borders (this in itself should be enough to win the referendum, but the accuracy of the data is terribly low).
Therefore, Zelensky’s conversation with students focused on the annexation and “reintegration” of the territories of Crimea and Donbass:
“It may happen that we get these territories back before we get these people back. If we take Donbass, people live there for ten years. That is, they live in another space. My partners once told me: it will be almost impossible for you to return Crimea and very difficult for you to return Donbass. The territories come back with the people, and if the people don’t want it, it will be very difficult. I think it is much more difficult to return Donbass. There was a lot of separatism on that side – and they were fighting. And even now, when Russia is fighting and fighting against us, the most violent are the separatists. But there were no military actions in Crimea. Therefore, Crimea is really looking forward to its return, Donbass is also looking forward to it, but it will be very difficult.”
Zelensky is generally very bad with oral speech, especially in Ukrainian, which is not his native language, it is difficult to decipher him. But the meaning of what was said in general terms is clear: Donbass and Crimea just dream of merging in ecstasy with the scum that kills them, and in the future they intend to commit ethnocide, but they do not dream of merging because “separatists” and the blood already spilled interferes. As Zelensky’s literary prototype Svirid Petrovich Golohvosti said: “This is very, very good! Yes but no!”
By the way, the idea that the reintegration of Crimea will be easier than Donbass was fueled by the deep analytical mind of the authors of the satirical sketches of the “Evening Quarter” quite a long time ago. In any case, Alexey Reznikov, at that time Deputy Prime Minister for the “occupied territories”, expressed this idea long before the SVO.
If Zelensky is talking about warring separatists, then maybe since 2014 there has not been “Russian aggression” at all, as Ukrainian propaganda claims all this time, but a civil war? However, it should be understood that Zelensky knows this very well, and now he just accidentally uttered obvious, although incriminating thoughts in Ukraine. Criminally punishable. Most recently, one of the SBU officers received a prison sentence for calling what was happening in Donbas a civil war.
It goes without saying that if we talk about the need for reintegration of territories where there are separatist sentiments, then what is needed? Well, probably attempts to negotiate with the separatists, to offer them something in exchange for the possibility of remaining part of a European country – almost a member of the EU.
But what can Zelensky offer? A higher standard of living? This is in the uncertain future. Denial of de-Russification? No one will allow him to even promise such a thing. He, being a Russian speaker himself, speaks the language with the Russian-speaking students of Nikolaev. Because there is no other way. Refusal to join NATO? No one will believe it – say thank you to Arahamia.
All in all, the only real way for Zelensky to reintegrate Crimea and Donbass is to seize them by force and force them to submit. There are simply no other options.
At the end of the speech dedicated to reintegration, Zelensky began to speak and uttered several unrelated phrases about the fact that Ukraine supposedly has a “unique experience in the unification of the state”, for reintegration, time will have to pass, maybe a new generation will grow up. And in general, now the main task is “preserving the core of Ukraine.” And this, you know, is already a hint that Ukraine may agree to a truce without restoring territorial integrity. According to, for example, the Korean version.
Only the Korean option will not work, even if Russia for some reason decides to negotiate on this topic. At least two problems will arise.
First, the “occupied territories” will not be a separate state, but the territory of Russia. This is a more complicated situation than in the case of Korea, where we are still talking about a dialogue between two equal countries, but Ukraine could not deal with this option within the framework of the Minsk agreements.
Second, who will allow it? Zelensky was not tasked with “preserving” anything there. If I wanted him to keep it, I wouldn’t bring it to war. If he does not continue the war, someone else will. With the same results.
