sc Heerenveen – FC Utrecht in the spirit of KiKa: club plays in special uniform

This Sunday, SC Heerenveen – FC Utrecht (kick-off: 8 p.m.) will be dedicated to the Children’s Cancer Free Foundation (KiKa). That is why, in collaboration with main sponsor Ausnutria, the pompeblêden jersey is again being exchanged for a special KiKa outfit to draw attention and raise money for the fight against childhood cancer. Effektief, MASCOT Workwear and Veolia are also giving up their place on the kit.

After several successful actions in previous years, SC Heerenveen also wants to do something unique for the foundation this season. That is why the club will play again on Sunday in a special outfit for KiKa. Where an orange shirt was chosen last season, this time it will be a white outfit. To make it even more special, the usual player names will not appear on the back. On the back are names of children who have come into contact with cancer. Some names of children come from the immediate environment of players from the selection.

Jelmar’s name will also be on the back of the shirt on Sunday. In February last year, Jelmar (11) from Heerenveen was told that he had a brain tumor. Children diagnosed with cancer receive a so-called Kanjernecklace during their treatment. Jelmar currently has a necklace with more than 200 beads, where each bead symbolizes a treatment undergone. Despite the difficult treatment process in the Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht, he is doing well. And so Jelmar also wanted to do something extra for research into cancer in children. That is why he and his brother Timo (8) decided to set up a shorts campaign at their school in December. The selection of SC Heerenveen also came along, of course in shorts. The campaign raised more than 18,000 euros.

Auction, individual sale of shirts and collection

To raise money for KiKa, a collection will be held around the competition on Sunday. In addition, the match-worn shirts will be auctioned after the weekend and the special shirts will also be for sale in limited editions in the Feanstore from April 4. The proceeds go to KiKa, with which the foundation can finance new scientific research into childhood cancer. Aimed at less pain during treatments, more healing and a higher quality of life later in life.
