Weather forecast, the anticyclone Narcissus brings summer temperatures to the North: up to 30 degrees in the Po Valley. Avalanche risk

For the first time in 2024 the North African anticyclone will expand strongly and warmly also over Northern Italy: the first 28-30°C are expected in the Po Valley.

The forecasts on the website www.iLMeteo.it confirm the comeback of the ‘Narcissus’ anticyclone, the anticyclone of beautiful sunshine and warm but not excessive temperatures.

Pleasant climate

Unlike the North African anticyclones which ‘swell’ towards Italy from May onwards, Narcissus will provide conditions of biometeorological well-being: there will be sun, we will have temperatures close to 30 degrees, but the humidity rate and above all the minimum temperatures will always be very pleasant. In other words you will feel good, over the weekend and probably for at least a week.

Narciso will therefore bring good weather, from the next few hours to the Centre-South, from the weekend also to Liguria, the Alps and the Pre-Alps, areas which are currently still recording some mostly minor cloud passages. Only in Liguria, both today and tomorrow, will the cloud cover also bring some local drizzle.

Over the weekend, however, the sun will be dominant everywhere: the only negative note is the record increase in temperatures in the mountains with the freezing point rising above 4200 metres, as happens in July. Thanks to the tons of fresh snow (including red) from the Easter holidays, the avalanche danger will rise even more in the Alps: the heat will melt the snow, creating highly unstable sheets of water.

Beyond the danger in the mountains, we will experience sunny conditions everywhere, disturbed at most by moderate ventilation in southern Sardinia (Saturday) and by Saharan dust in the North-West (from Sunday evening).

From a thermal point of view, as mentioned, we will record extreme peaks of 30°C from North to South: on average the maximums will still be around 24-26°C, but especially in the southern regions, in Emilia, Trentino Alto Adige, the Alpine valley floors of Lombardy and inland areas of Tuscany, the strong solar heating in April will favor an early summer.
