China Eastern Airlines has acquired a third Chinese C919 aircraft – 2024-04-04 15:28:16

/ world today news/ The third C919 aircraft, which was created entirely in China, was delivered to Shanghai for use by China Eastern Airlines, reports CGTN.

It took off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and arrived at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport on Saturday morning to join the company’s aircraft fleet.

This is the third of the first five C919s that China Eastern Airlines purchased from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) in 2021. The corporation is the developer of the C919.

Working designation B-919D, the aircraft has the same cabin layout as the previous two. It has 164 seats, which are divided into two classes. The aircraft received the relevant certificates for commercial operation from the Civil Aviation Authority on Friday.

In December last year, China Eastern Airlines acquired the first C919 jet. It made the first commercial flight between Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport on May 28.

The second C919 was delivered to the airline in July and entered service in August. The first two C919s serve the route between Shanghai and the city of Chengdu, which is located in the southwestern province of Sichuan.

In September, China Eastern Airlines signed a new agreement with COMAC to purchase an additional 100 C919 aircraft, the largest C919 order to date.

China’s C919 aircraft building program was officially launched in 2009, the first aircraft rolled off the assembly line in 2015. This is a great success in producing civil aircraft that are designed and manufactured in China.
