Gresini Racing racer from Spain, Marc Marquez immediately remembered his youth when he faced Pedro Acosta on the track. He remembers the moments when he was still a beginner and faced big names like Valentino Rossi or Dani Pedrosa.
For the record, Pedro Acosta performed brilliantly in the opening two series of MotoGP 2024. In fact, at the age of 19, he has already achieved a podium finish in the highest class. He is also able to compete against world champions.
Marc Marquez, who was involved in fierce competition against Pedro Acosta at the Qatar MotoGP, immediately remembered his youth. He saw that Acosta was similar to himself, who was not afraid to face senior racers at a young age.
“The race with Pedro Acosta in Qatar was extraordinary. This reminds me of 2013 when I faced Valentino (Rossi) at the same level, then Jorge (Lorenzo) and Dani (Pedrosa),” said Marquez, quoted from Motosan, Tuesday ( 2/4).

Now, Marc Marquez feels he is older. If in the past he met legends like Rossi and Pedrosa, now he has to face Pedro Acosta. Even though it feels different, he has to live with it.
“It feels like just the day before yesterday I was 20 years old and came to face racing legends like Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa. And now everything really feels different,” he explained.
In the world of sports, time changes are commonplace. Now, he said, Acosta is feeling what he felt when he faced senior names in the highest class.
“This is a natural process in sport. Everyone has a period when they are at the top, and then step by step new people arrive, young riders, young talents who make you part of their moment,” he said.
The rider, who is now 31 years old, then explained the advantages of being a young and novice rider. According to him, apart from being more energetic, they also have more courage to do something new.
“One of the advantages when you’re young is that you don’t realize what you’re doing and sometimes it works out well. You’re a little more conservative in some things, but you use your experience more,” he said.
