A tree knocked down by strong winds fell on a child in Zakopane. The injured boy was transported to hospital. Unfortunately, the child died.
The accident occurred on Monday afternoon at Powstańców Śląskich Street. A nine-year-old boy was leaving church with his family when a tree fell due to strong winds. The child died after being taken to hospital.
– The boy was hit by a falling tree branch. Unfortunately, after resuscitation that lasted over an hour and a half, the boy could not be saved, said Paweł Mickowski, a paramedic from the district hospital in Zakopane.

Earlier that day, another fatal accident occurred in Zakopane. A 23-year-old woman died after a tree fell on her car.
On Monday, as a result of strong winds, a tragic event also occurred in Rabka-Zdrój. Three people were killed when they were crushed by a fallen tree. This is a seven-year-old child and two women, aged 44 and 69.
There is a halny wind in the Tatra Mountains. Wind gusts exceeded 100 kilometers per hour on Monday. Firefighters in Małopolska intervened over 300 times until the afternoon.

Zakopane police spokesman Roman Wieczorek appealed to “all those who came to Podhale and do not have to go anywhere, stay in a hotel, guesthouse or house until the wind weakens. – It is very dangerous. Trees are breaking like matches,” he said.
A couple of tourists, Klaudia and Janusz Ormiński, who were in the Chochołowska Valley on Monday, talked on TVN24 about how difficult the conditions are in the mountains – We have been walking along Orla Perć for 40 years. What I saw today was unbelievable. (…) We decided to cancel our stay. While returning, we noticed that several dozen trees had fallen in one place. They were lying on top of each other. It was impossible to squeeze between the branches – said Mr. Janusz.
